***23 February- Troop 912's Newest Eagle Scout, Tanveer S. was noticed in Prince George twice, by the County Board and the Board of Education, for his outstanding accomplishments.  Note:  Last name was redacted in accordance with Youth Protection guidelines.

**21 February- Troop 175 Scoutmaster steps aside for his legacy to continue. Thank you for your long term of service as a Scoutmaster.  We wish the best to the troop as it continues.

*2 January- Round Table Key Notes for the District

Scout Training to be introduced-

Starting in February, Troop 198 will host training for Scouts to attend during Round Table.  This is a new thing that Jim Mullins is heading up to teach scouts about topics that are important to them.  The training is listed under events under the News Menu item.  For more information contact Jim Mullins at 804-892-5067.

Crater District Makes Gold JTE 2016-

It was announced that all of your hard work, the district, units and scouts, has paid off this year.  We have achieved the Gold Journey to Excellence for the District.  We should know if we brought home the Golden Saber later this month.


 *22 November 2016- Bobcat Challenge

The Heart of Virginia Council is excited to announce the first annual Bobcat Challenge, an opportunity for Cub Scout Packs and New Cub Scouts to receive additional recognition for earning their Bobcat Badge.



*23 November 2016- The Units Part In JTE

Units must report advancements for all boys to make a difference.  To increase our chances of making our Gold Journey to Excellence, the units and districts, ensure that you log all advancements.  Current numbers show that only 39% of Cub Scouts and 41% of Boy Scouts have earned rank this year.  Units we need your support.
